What works today, and what doesn't yet.

Cascade is alpha. This page is the one place we state it precisely.

§ 1

The ledger

Works today

  • Import FHIR R4, C-CDA and Apple Health exports into a pod.
  • Validate any record against the published SHACL shapes.
  • Read and write pods from TypeScript and Python.
  • Encrypt a pod at rest with a passphrase (CLI, opt-in).
  • Serve a pod to an AI assistant over MCP, with a call log.

In progress

  • SDKs catching up to the newest vocabulary versions (clinical 1.16 to 1.21).
  • Pod encryption format: Draft 1.1. File swaps and rollbacks aren't detected yet.
  • Five draft vocabularies: advisory, diabetes, evidence, genomics, workbench.

Not built

  • Sharing and consent controls. Today you share by exporting a file you choose.
  • Signed exports. An export is valid unsigned.
  • A public Swift SDK. An early private version runs inside POTS Check only.
  • Cascade Bridge as an app. It is a design, submitted to the ONC EHIgnite Challenge.

Roadmap

What we're building next.

Apps

  • Full Picture writes each family's answers as Cascade records.
  • Cascade Workbench in development: the place those records come together.

Developer experience

  • Quickstarts tested against each release.
  • SDKs brought up to the current vocabularies.
