Vocabularies

RDF ontologies for patient-owned health data — seven modular vocabularies built on W3C and clinical standards.

Each vocabulary is versioned independently using MAJOR.MINOR semantics and is available as a downloadable OWL/Turtle file. All stable vocabularies have corresponding SHACL shapes for validation. See the versioning policy for backward compatibility guarantees.

Core Vocabulary v3.3 Stable

Cross-application vocabulary used by every Cascade Protocol implementation. Defines schema versioning metadata, data provenance classes (ConsumerGenerated, ClinicalGenerated, DeviceGenerated, SelfReported, ConsumerWellness, AIAsserted, EHRVerified, ScannedDocument, AIExtracted), AI/advisory provenance activities (AdvisoryApplicationActivity, AIGenerationActivity), caregiver-proxy support (ProxyAgent), user identity, and patient demographics including PatientProfile, Address, PharmacyInfo, and AdvanceDirectives.

Clinical Vocabulary v1.9 Stable

Vocabulary for structured health records imported from EHR systems via Apple HealthKit or direct FHIR import. Covers 24 classes including Medication, Condition, Allergy, LabResult, VitalSign, Immunization, Procedure, Encounter, MedicationAdministration, ImplantedDevice, and ImagingStudy. All classes include SNOMED CT and LOINC code mappings.

Health Vocabulary v2.4 Stable

Consumer wellness and device-generated health data. Covers vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate, SpO2, temperature, respiratory rate), activity snapshots, sleep records, and body measurements. Every metric includes SNOMED CT and LOINC standard code mappings. Layer 2 vocabulary complementing clinical: for non-EHR data sources.

POTS Vocabulary v1.4 Stable

Domain-specific vocabulary for postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome home screening using the NASA Lean Test protocol. Supports age-adjusted heart rate thresholds, multi-position blood pressure and heart rate readings, symptom logging during testing, and result interpretation. Used in production by the POTS Check iOS and watchOS application.

Layer 2 domain vocabulary for insurance, benefits, and financial health data. Defines 8 classes: InsurancePlan, Deductible, CopaySchedule, ClaimRecord, BenefitStatement, DenialNotice, AppealRecord, and DenialReasonCode. Provides a unified representation shared between patient-reported and EHR-imported insurance records, with FHIR Coverage and ExplanationOfBenefit alignment.

Vocabulary for the Cascade Advisory Patch (CAP) profile — a constrained subset of W3C LDPatch carrying author-readable, statically-auditable, bounded-execution clinical knowledge updates (variant reclassifications, PGx dosing changes, surveillance-guideline updates, lab reference-range updates) into a Cascade pod. Defines the patch envelope, the six AdvisoryClass categories, the six-tier Cadence enum, per-pod TrustedIssuer trust records, and the AutoApplyPolicy opt-in policy. Evidence Vocabulary Draft (v1.0-draft.0.2)

Layer 2 cross-cutting vocabulary for grounding assertions in cited evidence. Models an Assertion, reified EvidenceLinks (supports / contradicts / contextual), external Citations (DOI/PMID), and the GroundingActivity that graded them. The v1-draft.0.2 facet model expresses the outcome as orthogonal facets (direction, basis, strength, settled, reason) plus a bounded confidence, replacing a flat verdict enum (now deprecated for one release). A SHACL-Core grounding invariant requires every grounded assertion to carry at least one evidence link. Consumed by Cascade Workbench and the Cascade Appeal system. Pre-stable; the schema may change before v1.0.

Layer 3 application vocabulary for the Cascade Workbench desktop investigation app. Defines the workspace objects (Investigation, ImportedConversation, Hypothesis, Pin), the append-only record-amendment overlays (Amendment, Annotation, Retraction, Tombstone), and the verification and filing axes. The v1-draft.0.5 notes substrate models caregiver notes, research flags, and follow-ups as ONE W3C Web Annotation (oa:Annotation) distinguished by oa:motivatedBy, with required PROV-O attribution and follow-ups dual-typed cal:Vtodo; exactly one term is minted (workbench:followUp).
